Habit 04 / 08 · A body made to move
A
Move the Flow
Activity
The first work given to humanity was to tend a garden — useful, embodied, outdoors. Daily movement is not a punishment for eating; it is the natural birthright of a body designed for walking, lifting, building, and play.
The arc
From: Sedentary days punctuated by guilt-driven workouts.
To: A body that moves daily — walking, lifting, playing — because it can.
Spiritual insight
The body was given for stewardship, not display. Movement is how the body says thank you.
Today's action
Take a 20-minute walk today — outdoors if possible.
Flow question
How can I move my body today in a way that feels like worship, not punishment?
A 7-day on-ramp
- 1.Walk 20 minutes today.
- 2.Add one set of push-ups or squats.
- 3.Take a meeting on foot.
- 4.Stretch for 5 minutes before bed.
- 5.Try one new movement (dance, ball, hike).
- 6.Walk with another human.
- 7.Reflect: when did your body feel most alive?
What the research says
- • 150 min/week moderate activity reduces all-cause mortality (WHO 2020).
- • Muscle strength in midlife predicts longevity and independence (Attia, Outlive).
Scripture
- “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19
- “He took him outside and said, look up at the sky.” — Genesis 15:5
